3 Kings Day

The celebration of the magical kings is not celebrated in the U.S. so this was a new tradition for me. I celebrated this day (the 5th) with my friends. Before the parade started I met with my friends and we ate some Roscon. This type of cake also doesn´t exist in the states but I thought it tasted very good. I found a little toy in mine piece but it wasn´t the king or the bean...it was a little fish.

After we ate the roscon we walked to the parade. We watched all the floats go by and they all looked amazing! I liked all of the floats and some of my favorites included Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well as Avatar. I took a lot of pictures and collected a lot of candy. At the end of the night we went to Plaza Nueva to watch the Kings bring presents to baby Jesus. After the event I was exhausted so I said bye to my friends and went home to sleep.

In all, I thought this holiday was very fun and would love to celebrate it again!

I hope you had a good. In Lucena, every year they usually do. This year was very nice. The traditional sweet is the roulade. If you get the bean you have to pay your next year.

  2. I thought the 3 kings day was GREAT! I absolutely loved it! I would love to come back and experience it again with all the candy throwing and very creative floats. I also got a chance to try the roulade with Teresa and her family. It was very delicious and luckily I didn't get the bean! Instead I found a different small toy inside my piece.

I don't think there is anything like the roulade in the USA but I would love to try and make one and share it with my friends.
